Out In The Open

Katrina

The cards are on the table you now know how I feel,
Everything you're doing and saying is it fake or real?
Forever now I have always really liked you,
But I never guessed that you like me too.
Why did I wait so long to finally let this out in the open?
Oh probably because it's something that shouldn't be spoken.
Being with you is the impossible part,
But you will always be in my heart.
I hate that there is nothing that can be done,
At least when we hang out it's so much fun.
It's great that we now talk everyday,
I wouldn't want to change that in any way.
Sadly I know nothing will ever happen between you and me,
But you never know for sure; I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's very like a terribly true bold-faced acknowledgment of wrong-doing. For the speaker says in L6 that it shouldn't be spoken....wherefore? Can't it be had or is it illicit? Almost eerie for the seeming forbidden desire, it excellently conveys the sense of passion, concluding hauntingly with the dangling unknown. Very well done.
