Nightmares

broken_dreams23

Go to sleep then, my dark angel,
Let the twilight's mists dissolve you light,
For I will be watching you,
From the deepest shadows of the night.

Like the breeze, I can float on your breath,
In and out your weary head,
To fill your mind with restless torment,
And bring the dreams you dread.

From the shadows I descend,
To creep upon you unawares,
To infiltrate your sullen thoughts,
And play around with your darkest fears.

Within my web of anxious terror,
Trapped in agitated sleep,
With a sinking feeling of dispair,
Your sweat runs cold and deep.

I claw upon your dreams to catch,
A memory of true regret,
To feed you pain of mental anguish,
And render you a helpless state.

Feel my presence in your dream,
As you try to run away from me,
On legs of leaden paralysis,
I'm at your heels, you can't break free.

You don't even know who I am,
My aggravation makes no sense,
Nor why I should wish to do you harm.
You'll find the reason in your subconsciousness.

Awake now, dark angel child,
And may your memory of me linger,
Until we meet again, dark angel child,
For I will be back to feed your anger.

I am stunned. This poem is truly marvelous.
You have such a wonderous choice of words, I cannot do more than sit back and applaud.
