Tuesday: Three Poetry Markets
Another Tuesday, another three markets that are currently accepting poetry for publication. We know that it isn”t easy to find legitimate markets for poetry. We”ve done the looking too – and everywhere we look we find “Our needs for poetry are currently filled” or “We are not currently accepting submissions of new poetry”. Every Tuesday, we”ll bring you three markets for poetry that are currently accepting submisisons from poets for English language poetry. This week”s picks are:
Milkweed Editions publishes collections of poetry (single-author collections only, please) that are at least 60 pages long. They ask that all writers review their previous poetry titles to get a sense for what they’re looking for in a poetry collection. Manuscripts are read bi-annually, in the months of January and June; manuscripts received outside of those months will be held for the next reading period.
You can find a list of their current titles here. More information on submissions can be found here,
Poetry Magazine is published by the Poetry Foundation, whose mission it is to return poetry to its central place in our lives. In keeping with the editorial belief that poetry is a living thing, the editors of Poetry Magazine do not look for any particular style or genre of poetry for their publication, but rather “the best English poetry being written” regardless of genre, style or school. Poetry pays at the rate of $6.00 per line of poetry with a minimum payment of $150. Anyone contemplating making a submission is urged to read the magazine to familiarize themselves with the quality of work published in it. More information on submission guidelines can be found here
Post Road Magazine publishes two issues per year, each of them containing several poems. Their reading period for the Fall/Winter issue is from June 1 through September 1. Post Road Magazine accepts submissions of 3-6 poems by email as word attachments. More information on submission guidelines can be found here
