James StephensJames Stephens was born February 9, 1882, in Dublin, Ireland.

Before becoming one of the greatest Irish writers, Stephens worked as a solicitor”s clerk, and as a Registrar of the National Gallery of Ireland.

He”s considered as one of the icons of the Irish literary renaissance, and critics always have kind words for him, specially for his prose.

James Stephens died at Eversleigh on December 26, 1950, at the age of 68.

He published several poetry books:

Insurrections (1909);
Songs from the Clay (1915);
Reincarnations (1918);
In the Land of Youth (1924);
Poetry Recital (1925);
Etched in Moonlight (1928);
Collected Poems (1926);
Kings and the Moon (1938).

He was also a remarkable novelist:

The Charwoman”s Daughter (1912);
The Crock of Gold (1912).
